Children interrupt BBC News interview – BBC News

This truly is one of the most hilarious things ever put on television.

The slide in from the wife genuinely had me in tears of laughter.

And the way she quickly closes the door.

“Nothing to see here, folks!”

It’s a perfect comedy moment.

The toddler wanders in. Oh, that’s just silly and not too unusual for skype. The interviewer laughs at it. It’s odd, but it’s still casual.

Then the baby suddenly slides in like a boss.  OK, now this is weird.

Then the mom literally skates in and gets them both out of the room. Then quickly slams the door likes she’s trying to cover up some big scandal. Now it’s gotten incredibly weird.

And the look of mortification on the dad’s face.

That’s some 1920s Buster Keaton stuff right there.

Dad should be mortified at his reaction. So, your kid wanders in – that’s what kids do. But no, he had to backswipe his arm and clunk his daughter in the face, then push her back like an errant servant. Why not acknowledge her, say something like “not now, Honey, Daddy’s working” and just let it go. Mom made even more of a scene by running in like a nanny (many thought she was the nanny) and grabbing the kids, getting the baby stuck in the doorway. Nobody was listening to him; everyone was watching crazy mom.

I bet he’s had a lock installed on the office door since then.

He explained that: He nudged her towards the books because he hoped she’d get distracted by one and they could cut the interview soon enough..He wasn’t being rough at all. I think the mom was too panicky, but she was just over-whelmed.

They didn’t handle it as best they could, but there’s no indication they’re bad parents or anything. Kinda judgemental to say so.

He probably wasn’t wearing pants

Why’d I get scared he was gonna beat all of them after, just by the way he looked so embarrassed and betrayed when nobody else on the interviewing side of the camera was even really phased by it. Also, the way the mom was so frantic about it. Instead of just walking in and taking the kids out she like ninja dives and moves so anxiously.

That is crazy. He was just embarrassed. It was embarrassing. Nothing scary in it.

The mom was so frantic because it was live TV.

Okay…? It’s not crazy because you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors? People make up explanations all the time? Maybe he doesn’t beat the kids cause his energy didn’t change when they came in, he was just a little embarrassed and they didn’t seem fearful but as soon as the mom walked in he was fuming. He couldn’t even keep his thoughts together. He visibly had to calm himself down. If she wasn’t fearful, she wouldn’t have dragged those kids out of there like that. I’ve seen fear before. It makes you panicky and irrational. Taking the kids by the hand and walking them out with a laugh and an apology is rational, cause they’re just kids. Dragging them out and smashing the toddler’s legs in the doorway cause you’re moving too fast for your brain to catch up and then crawling back to close the door once you realized you forgot to close it is highly irrational.

You’re looking too much into it.

Hell, the fact that the older kid has no problems proudly sauntering into daddy’s office, dancing around and doing what she wants tells you she’s not scared of him.
