this is fantastic now children in Puerto Rico wont be able to receive the education they deserve thanks to their messed up government
Its even worse than that. I’m living through it. Not only are schools closing, hospitals are collapsing. Only around 9% of the island has electricity and it comes and goes at times.
People are dying in hospitals because of lack of diesel for the generators, a lot of the water is now infected, there are disease outbreaks and scareceness of food. I am safe, but many are not.
Some have water, others don’t. We need help. Sending money would be helpful but what would help even more would be sending water filters, filtering water bottles, food, medicine, if somehow possible diesel.
All of you reblogging this news helps, but what we need is physical help. If you can’t, then spread the word, but God if you can send supplies… Please… PLEASE do. We are dying. Help us, help us save ourselves. Help us save our people. Help us save out ISLAND.
If you’re not in a position to ship or transport useful items to the island (which is sure as heck the case for me in New Zealand) then the best thing you can do is give money to a reputable relief organisation operating in the area.
Not very many people on tumblr have been posting about the protests and police violence in St. Louis right now. This surprises me.
It’s like I said, it’s not interesting enough for tumblr anymore. When the black lives matter protests were first happening, it was a huge thing on tumblr. Now tumblr’s bored of it and you don’t even hear about it anymore.
I suppose that’s true. It’s just troubling because literally hundreds of people have been arrested. They literally strangled an old black woman at the galleria. Yesterday protestors shut down hwy 40 (which is the main central highway through the city). And they arrested those documenting and advocating first. Please tell me it’s not totally fucking terrifying that their first priority is to make sure no one else can see what they are doing. The city is being sued for their treatment of protestors.
I am pasting in some photos for those following the post. This has all been happening for the last two weeks. These are organized actions.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A JUDGE TELLS COPS THEY CAN KILL WHOMEVER THE FUCKING PLEASE
This is literally the first I’ve seen about this.
I suppose for the sake of people who don’t know my beloved St. Louis, I should be clear and state that this is the same place where Ferguson is. Ferguson is suburb of St. Louis, but the way out county/city is laid out, Ferguson is really just a neighborhood in St. Louis, so this is a continuation of the Ferguson uprising that has been reinvigorated after Jason Stockley (white cop) was acquitted for the murder of Anthony Lamar Smith (black man). Stockley chose to pursue a bench trial, and the judge acquitted him citing the following racist bullshit….
Important line transcribed for those who can see the image: “Finally, the Court observes, based on its nearly thirty years on the bench, that an urban heroin dealer not in possession of a firearm would be an anomaly.”
Just heard that puerto rico is so much worse than what i’ve seen on the news.
you know how trees are good and provide fresh air and shade? And how it gets really hot in the tropics?
Maria destroyed like 80% of the trees in Puerto Rico, leaving them leafless. some got uprooted
also, you know how mosquitos can carry diseases and they reproduce by laying eggs in stagnant water?
turns out there are tons upon tons of bodies of stagnant water in PR sooooooo that means more mosquitos more diseases, like dengue basically, a fucking plague.
AND theres still no running water and no electricity for most.
It’s seriously like the apocalypse there and the so-called president is doing nothing to help.
And they’re endlessly being told to be patient with the USA whose politicians can’t get their heads out of their asses and realize people are dying and suffering and it’s absolutely their fault.
us government: 18 year olds aren’t fully developed adults, so they shouldn’t be allowed to drink alcohol because thats damaging to them
us government: 18 year olds should die in war for me.
