Stop excusing women who put their hands on their husbands and sons because women tend to be physically weaker than men. Abuse is abuse, and fuck you for minimizing the experiences of male victims.
Consider that many women are wary when a man claims that a woman is physically abusing them because abusive men frequently accuse their wives/girlfriends of being abusive as a way of deflecting blame and isolating their victim. Sometimes men who describe the physical abuse (like slapping/hitting/pushing) they have endured at the hands of a female partner neglect to mention that this happened in a context of her fighting back against his physical abuse. Also, yes, women physically abusing men is much less likely to involve serious physical harm and to end in murder, and male abuse victims of women are way less likely to be financially incapable of leaving the relationship.
“I am often asked whether physical aggression by women toward men, such as a slap in the face, is abuse. The answer is: “It depends.” Men typically experience women’s shoves or slaps as annoying and infuriating rather than intimidating, so the long-term emotional effects are less damaging. It is rare to find a man who has gradually lost his freedom or self-esteem because of a woman’s aggressiveness.” ― Lundy Bancroft, Why Does He Do That?: Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling Men
Child abuse is a separate issue from adult woman-on-man abuse and involves a completely different power dynamic. Please do not conflate the two.
The response. Is brilliant. That is all.
This response isn’t brilliant, it’s blatantly dismissive of male victims of abuse and you’re an asshole for cheering this kind of derailing on. Make your own fucking post.
And you won’t. You’re going to burn bright and beautiful my friend, because that’s who you are choosing to be, not what they tried to make you, and I am so proud of you.
Every time someone has the word rad/radical in their url: it’s time to play ‘are they a gross fucking transmisogynist or do they just like gnarly 90s surfer slang’. Or as I like to call it: Surf or TERF?
It wrinkles my brain that Jupiter’s moon Europa has oceans that are sixty miles deep, while Earth’s oceans only reach seven miles deep at most. I’m willing to bet good money that there’s life in Europa’s oceans. Like five bucks. You hear me, NASA? I bet you five bucks that there’s life on Europa… Now that there’s money and reputation on the line, I bet they send a mission there real quick.
I have no idea when this was originally posted, but NASA is working on their Europa mission RIGHT NOW to look for alien life! But get this, they theorize that because of the depth, gravity, and composition of the oceans, any organisms that lived there would be waaay bigger than aquatic life on Earth. So far everything’s going well with regards to their Europa mission so they should have a spacecraft on its way to look for giant sea monsters in space in only a few years. (The planned date is in the early 2020s.)
Looks like my negotiations worked. You’re welcome, humanity.
I’ve never been gripped with such cold terror and pure delight in my LIFE
time to find the elder horrors of the deep on an alien world, nothing could possibly go wrong
